Ijebu-Ode (Ogun), Oct. 2, 2018 (NAN) Ogun State Deputy Governor, Mrs Yetunga Onanuga has appealed to delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain calm amidst rumours that the Governorship election will not hold as scheduled in Ogun.
Onanuga made the call while addressing newsmen at the Ijebu-Ode Local Government Secretariat on Tuesday.
The deputy governor who was in Ijebu-Ode, her constituency, to exercise her civic duty in the rescheduled APC Governorship primaries allayed fears that the election would be cancelled again following the calling-off on Sunday.
As of 12:45pm of writing this report, party members and delegates of the APC seen at various Wards around the town were still held up being confused on whether the election would still hold.
“As I speak to you now, members of the National Working Committee (NWC) have left Abeokuta enroute the various voting centres to kick-start the process.
“I can confirm to you that it will hold and we have already dispatched information to the 11 wards in Ijebu-Ode and members waiting there that the election will hold,” Onanuga said.
She also assured delegates and citizens that their safety is guaranteed saying detailed security for the purpose of the election has been provided.
“No one can harrass anybody or disenfranchise them not to carry out their rights.  Peoe should come out and vote for the candidates if their choice,” she added.
Observations by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at Ward 2, Ereko Area and Ward 9, St. Augustine Area amongst some of the wards hosting the elections saw large turn up of delegates who had been waiting endlessly since the early morning. (NAN)
