* WE’LL MEET GLOBAL BENCHMARK IN EDUCATION – OGUN SUBEB
The Ogun State Government says it will not compromise standard in constructing and rehabilitating structures in public primary schools in order to meet global benchmark that will engender quality basic education in the State.
The Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB),
Alhaji Olatunde Okewole, stated this while monitoring the Third Term
Unified Examinations for the 2017/2018 academic session in public primary
schools across the State.
He noted that the monitoring exercise
would enable the Board update the schools’ data, with a view to adopt
proactive approach enable them provide facilities needed and upgrade
existing ones in the schools.
Commenting on the on-going
examinations, the Chairman said all hands were on deck, with necessary
machinery put in place to ensure success of the exercise across the State,
noting that schools visited had recorded hitch-free and satisfactory
conduct of the examination.
Alhaji Okewole debunked rumours of
current recruitment of teachers to the Board, urging teachers to embark on
enrolment drive in their catchment areas by encouraging parents and
guardians to send their children and wards to public primary schools.
Expressing views on the conduct of the examination, the
Head-teachers, St. Paul’s Demonstration School I, Onikolobo, Abeokuta and
St. Luke’s Anglican Primary School, Ibara-Orile, Comrade Amoo Abiodun and
Mrs. Maisat Durojaye respectively, appreciated government for its huge
investment in the education sector, adding that the materials were
adequate, while the morale of the pupils were high for the examinations.
