*JUNE 12: OGUN DEPUTY GOVERNOR LAUDS BUHARI’S DECLARATION*
The declaration of June 12, as Democracy Day, in place of May 29
by President Muhammadu Buhari, has been said to be a good omen for desired
democratic growth, that would entrench good governance.
Ogun State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga stated this
while reacting to the declaration in an interview with newsmen in her
office, at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Onanuga appreciated the president for acknowledging the importance
of the annulled June 12 presidential election, won by the business mogul,
late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, describing it as a welcome
development.
She said, though the agitation for the recognition of the date
of the historic election, as democracy day was long overdue, the action of
the President would ensure that the event was indelible in the minds of
Nigerians.
The Deputy Governor therefore urged Nigerians to reciprocate Mr.
President's gesture by participating actively in the nation's democratic
process, to further consolidate its gains.
