GOVT SEALS OFF COMPANY OVER ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION
Manufacturing companies operating in Ogun State have been warned to comply with the State environmental laws as stipulated in Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) regulation of 2005 to avert government sanctions.
The General Manager, Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency, TPL Funmilayo Kuti, stated this while sealing off a manufacturing company, Gharsu Services Ltd, located along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The General Manager said the company had been was sealed over its persistent contravention of the State Environmental Law as well as the OGEPA regulation of 2005 which stipulated that Effluent Treatment Plan (ETP), and Abatement Device for waste water must be installed to avert environmental pollution.
Kuti noted further that the company had been served series of notices over the breach but to no avail, adding that the Air Quality Test and the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) that should ensure safety of the workers and the people around the company were not also carried out in accordance with the law.
She advised other manufacturing companies in the state to always comply with the state environmental laws and regulation to avert government sanctions.
