The Ogun State government has reiterated its commitment at ensuring that public primary schools take top priority in government’s policies as basic education will yield positive impact on pupils in the society.
The Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Olatunde Okewole stated this during the monitoring exercise to public primary schools writing the Second Term 2016/2017 Unified Examination across the State.
Okewole said the present administration of Senator Ibikunle Amosun had invested heavily on education through its free education policy, adding that large percentage of the State budget allocated to the sector in the last six years had boosted basic education in the State.
While urging teachers to be diligent in the discharge of their duties, Alhaji Okewole admonished parents and guardians not to take the education of their children and wards with levity, but to encourage them in their academic pursuits.
The SUBEB boss who noted that the exercise was successful as there were adequate supply of examination materials in all the schools visited, gave kudos to both teaching and non-teaching staff for a hitch-free exercise.
