NPC begins 3rd phase Enumeration Area Demarcation in Ogun.
The National Population Commission (NPC) has commence the third phase of the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) in Ogun, in preparation for the 2018 national census.
The Exercise was flagged off in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area recently, as the area council is the 3rd phase to be demarcated in Ogun.
Speaking during the flag off ceremony, Honourable Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission Ogun State, Chief Mrs Aderiokun Oluseyi said the exercise is aimed at dividing the enumeration areas into smaller units for effective census coverage.
According to her, the enumerators will move round communities in the area to number and divide houses into enumeration areas, using satellite maps.
“It is in this regard that the commission is deploying sophisticated technology in carrying out the EAD. The methodology for the census is designed to achieve full
Geographic Information System (GIS) compliance. High resolution satellite imagery will be used to ensure that no area is left out or duplicated,’’ The Commissioner said
Aderiokun appealed to the State Government, Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Traditional Institutions and communities in the area to support the commission in carrying out the EAD for the 2018 census and cooperate with the enumerators for a successful exercise.
In his Response, The Chairman of ijebu ode Local Government, Arch Gbolade Oduwole said the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) is very significant and symbolic to this Local Government as it will help the Government to embark on effective planning to cope with the present reality rather than living on past population census figure.
Meanwhile, the Chairman assured the commission of their support, so as to have a successful Enumeration Area Demarcation in the Council Area.
