Fashola Promises Refund of N124bn to Ogun
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has assured the Ogun State government of the refund of N124 billion spent on the construction of Federal Roads across the state.
Mr. Fashola gave this assurance in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Friday, after he led a team from the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to Ogun State on an inspection and assessment tour of the federal roads and the ongoing Housing project of the Federal Government in the state.
The Minister, who expressed satisfaction with the quality of the roads and flyover inspected, revealed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government would adequately reimburse the state.
Speaking on the plans of the Federal government in the Housing sector, Mr. Fashola disclosed that his ministry has started the construction of Federal Housing units along Ajebo road in Abeokuta while another one located at the media village is ongoing.
The Minister also added that his ministry has also intervened in the Magboro area of the state which had no electricity for several years with the laying of cables and the provision of a power plant.
On his part, the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun thanked the Federal government for working its talk especially on the reconstruction of the Lagos - Ibadan expressway.
Governor Amosun called on the Federal government to intervene on some other Federal roads that require urgent attention in the state.

In this respect, the Governor mentioned the likes of Papalantoro - Ilaro road, Lafenwa - Ayetoro road, and Lagos - Abeokuta old road among others.
Governor Amosun also seized the ocassion to mention the fact that no other state in Nigeria has the number of industries that Ogun State currently has.
He added that in view of this, Ogun State contributes almost 40 per cent into the Federal purse.
Governor Amosun said this should naturally necessitate the need to review the federal allocation sharing formula that comes from the non oil sector in order to adequately compensate Ogun.
